This is a kit for extracting and purifying viral RNA from body fluids such as sputum, nasopharyngeal swabs, saliva, and serum using a spin column. It utilizes the principle of RNA adsorption to silica in the presence of chaotropic ions, without the use of toxic organic solvents like phenol or chloroform.
